May 2006 Mezzo-soprano Kristin Finnigan graduated with Honours from the RoyalScottish Academy of Music and Drama in 2004, having studied with MargaretIzatt. During her time there she performed as soloist with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra in Bartók's Three Village Scenes and sang Hippolyta in Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream. She is currently supported by a scholarship on the Advanced Postgraduate Course at Trinity College of Music, where she studies with Hazel Wood. At Trinity she has played the Messaggera in Monteverdi's L'Orfeo and The Symbolic Mother in the world premiere of Tunde Jegede's A Cry of Innocence and was also the alto soloist in the College's performance of Tippett's Child of our Time. Kristin was chosen to take part in the first mentoring scheme between Trinity and the Royal Opera House Covent Garden. Earlier this month she was one of six singers in the country chosen to sing in a masterclass with Teresa Berganza in the Purcell Room. Future engagements include participation in the Trinity Schumann Festival with Eugene Asti, The Beggar's Opera with Trinity and Cornelia in Handel's Julius Caesar. |
